Normani feels crushed because she couldn’t perform at this year’s BET Awards. Sunday was full of disappointment for the singer, who, at 28, announced on Instagram her unavoidable cancellation.
A troublesome knee injury forced her into this tough decision. “No one can understand how gutted and letdown I feel,” cried Normani, who originally planned a live performance at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater.
“I had intended to pop in here and fill you in that during BET rehearsals, I suffered a serious tumble and got hurt,” the former Fifth Harmony member went on. “I yearned to give you my all onstage, but performing would slow down my recovery,” elaborated the artist behind Candy Paint.
“I’ve been navigating my thoughts and emotions about this. I’m crushed and detest the thought of letting you down, but right now, healing takes priority.”
“Believe me, I hear your voices and I see your expressions. Nothing fulfills me more than performing for you, and that’s what I yearned for-BEING ON STAGE,” expressed Normani before concluding her speech.
To fill you in, the 2024 BET awards happened on Sunday, June 30 at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater.
