The first single from her upcoming, untitled fifth album, “The End,” an emotive ballad by singer-songwriter Halsey, was released on Tuesday. The song addresses the junction between love and disease.

The Grammy nominee’s most recent song, which follows the popularity of 2021’s “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power,” tells the story of a relationship that is plagued by worries about death and a terrifying health fight.

Earlier this week, Halsey gave an advance look at its release on Instagram. She later verified the release in a recent post on the social media site, which featured footage of the artist’s personal medical struggle—a topic she has never before discussed in public. Halsey wrote in a second post published on Wednesday that she was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus, or SLE, and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disease in 2022, while not mentioning any specific illnesses in her first statement.

which I will probably have for the rest of my life and both of which are presently being treated or in remission,” the singer stated in the caption of her most recent image. “With the assistance of wonderful doctors, I gradually brought things under control after a rough beginning. I’m feeling better now that I’ve had two years, and I’m thankful to have music in my life. I am eager to be back among you all, where I truly belong.

After revealing her health struggles to the public for the first time a day ago, Halsey thanked them for their support.

In summary, I feel fortunate to be alive. To cut a long tale short, I wrote an album. The End is where it starts. Halsey captioned her Tuesday Instagram photo, “Out now.” The first slide shows her rubbing her calves while looking as though she is in discomfort. One arm of hers is bandaged with medical tape.

I feel like an old lady, really, she declares in the video. I decided to give myself an additional two years of illness. I’m having a rebirth at thirty, and I promise not to get ill, look amazing, or lack vitality. And in my 30s, I’ll just get to do my 20s over again.

Another video of her wearing a face mask while reclining in an infusion chair can be found in the post. “Today is day one of treatment,” Halsey says to the camera before a later video takes a closer look at different hospital trips that seem to have been captured over time.

In connection with the release of her latest album, “The End,” Halsey is giving to the Lupus Research Alliance and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, according to a press release. In the Instagram post’s description, Halsey mentioned both charities.

Lymphoma and leukemia are distinct malignancies that affect the lymphatic and blood systems, respectively. An autoimmune condition called lupus causes the body’s immune system to target healthy tissue. It may impact a number of organs, joints, skin, and circulation. The National Institutes of Health states that several types of leukemia and lymphoma are among the varied presentations of T-cell lymphoproliferative diseases.

Now, every few years, a doctor announces, “I’m sick.” Taking out a brand-new trick bag, they then place it on me. Initially, it was my brain, but later, it was a skeleton in agony. I hate to complain, but I’m saying sorry. Halsey performs a vocal in the first stanza of  The End.
