Cristiano Ronaldo, a renowned football star from Portugal, recently announced that Euro 2024 in Germany will be his last. Now a 39-year-old striker for Al Nassr, Ronaldo is playing for the sixth time in this European tournament.
By the time the contest moves to England, Scotland, Wales, and both parts of Ireland in 2028, Ronaldo will be 43, according to CGTN. Ronaldo expressed this to RTP, a Portuguese broadcaster, stating it’s sure to be his last Euro game, but he doesn’t feel emotional.
His passion is ignited by the spirit and passion that football fans, family, and everyone brings. It does not indicate, however, that he’s done with football altogether. Ronaldo made a mark with 211 games and 130 goals for Portugal since his 2003 debut.
His influence helped Portugal secure their first European title in 2016. Last week, Portugal scored a victory in a penalty shootout against Slovenia in the Euro 2024 round of 16. Ronaldo, five times a Ballon d’Or recipient, missed a potential winning penalty.
But he was successful on his first shot in the shootout. Ronaldo shares that failures come with efforts. Regardless of the result, he pledges his best efforts for the team.
He’s never shied away from responsibility. Success and failure, both are part of the game, as Ronaldo firmly believes. Cristiano says that the victory over Slovenia has energized the team.
They are now focusing on their challenging quarterfinals match against the strong favorite, France, coming this Friday.
