Realizing the failings of the Men in Green, keeper Mohammad Rizwan stated on Tuesday that the Pakistan cricket team rightly received criticism for their lackluster performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.
“With such a poor performance, criticism is expected. Success escapes those who can’t handle backlash,” spoke the right-handed batsman to the media in Peshawar.
“A team’s loss isn’t due to a solo purpose,” he expressed. Multiple “flaws” caused Pakistan to leave the tournament ahead of time, he insisted. We should highlight that Pakistan bailed from the T20 World Cup during the first phase.
This brought backlash from followers, critics, and fellow cricketers as well, notably due to their defeat from the underdogs, the US team.
Rizwan conveyed the team’s disappointment as they couldn’t meet the country’s expectations. The T20 World Cup results showed their struggles in both battling and bowling, he further mentioned. Refuting any rumored bias among teammates, he affirmed their unified commitment to play for their green emblem.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi suggested that Pakistan’s cricket team needs a “major surgery”. The right-handed batter responded, “When you’re sick, you need surgery. As chairman, that’s his call. He decides who stays and who doesn’t.”
